The sun is out, the scent of BBQs is wafting across the town and you feel the pull to go to the beach. Here is our list of essential items to pack in your beach bag.

Waterproof speakers

An essential for any trip to the beach. Settle down and get some tunes playing. Alternatively, take some headphones and relax with an audio book.

Beach shoes

Our beach is pebbly, so unless you have hardy feet you may find that you look a little bit less like Ursula Andress as you come back from your swim.

Sunscreen

Always essential in the summer. It can get hot by the sea and our coastal breezes can sometimes lull you into thinking that you aren’t burning. Get a good factor and slather it on.

BBQ

There are shops in town that sell good disposable bbqs and the stones on the beach make the perfect base. Additionally, our three independent butchers can furnish you with an excellent supply of sausages and meat and, if you are vegetarian, there are some fantastic greengrocers in town too.

Stay hydrated

It’s always a good plan to bring water and drinks with you, however it’s also worth adding that The Offy sells plastic champagne glasses and has a fantastic selection of beers, wines and spirits. Alternatively, grab a spot near The Old Neptune and get yourself some local beer on tap.
